Anyhow, back in the 30’s it seems that Adam played football for the local league team Wisloka Debica, I know Debica is where most of my family are from. Amazingly there is an archived photo of his era though I am not sure if he is in the photo at all.

I was doing my occasional search of the web and had a new ‘Fusiarski find’ today, one Dr. Karol Fusiarski. Now the photo says he lived from 1876 to 1943. I found the image on a Polish photography site TTF, though as its in Polish the online translation of the text is not so good so I cant gleam much more info from the page text. Using Intertran I have contacted the website to see if I can follow up with anything further.

Just a quick introduction. I bought the Fusiarski.com domain name years ago simply because its my surname and I thought it may become useful at a later date, maybe for an online portfolio or similar. This was before I became fascinated by the history of my Polish surname, an interest further stimulated when two members of my distant family contacted me after finding my name online (via a Google search naturally!). So, hopefully with the help of my Polish relatives we will be able to piece together the first kind of archive anywhere online for the Fusiarski (and its female variant, Fusiarska) surname.

There’s a possibility that Fusiarski was a geographical surname.

The most common type of Polish surname, these Polish last names were derived from the location of the homestead from which the first bearer and his family lived. In the case of nobility, the surnames were often taken from the names of their estates. Other place names which were adapted into surnames include towns, countries, and even geographical features. While you might think that such surnames could lead you to your ancestral village, that isn’t often the case with Polish surnames because so many places in Poland had the same name, changed names or disappeared in the centuries since the surnames developed, or were subdivisions of a local village or estate too small to be found on a gazetteer or map.
(source:About.com)

I’ll be expanding on this in due time. Meanwhile you’ll find an increasing amount of related Polish ancestry links on the site.

Pozwole sobie na drobny wstep. Kupilem stronke Fusiarski(a).com pare lat temu poniewaz pomyslalem ze ktoregos dnia sie to moze przydac. Portfolio, pare zdjec, moze kilu czlonkow rodziny, ktoz to wie? Pewnego dnia skontaktowali sie ze mna czlonkowie mojej rodziny. oczywiscie przez wyszukarke!( google.com) w jednej chwili moje nazwisko stalo sie powodem fascynacjii i poszukiwan. Ilu nas jest na tym swiecie Fusiarskich?

Z moich poszukiwan udalo mi sie pozbierac kilka faktow. Istnieje duze prawdopodobienstwo ze nasze nazwisko wywodzi sie z geograficznie bliskiego obszaru w okolicach dzisiejszej Ukrainy. Podlug opowiadan istniala przed obaleniem caratu wies FUSIARY w ktorej to rodzina Fusiarskich posiadala majatek i wlosci. Debica, Polska jest siedziba kilku szanujacych sie Fusiarskich: Jerzy Fusiarski, Irena Fusiarska, Julita ( Juliette) Fusiarska, Mateusz ( Matt) Fusiarski- obecnie w USA.
