Dont Be Reckless…….

Dont be reckless with other peoples hearts

I was discussing an earlier post , ‘Wear Sunscreen’ here, with a friend and we both agreed that there was several quotables from the lyric including the above, which popped up illustrated via Pinterest here.

A quote to live by actually 🙂

Wear Sunscreen

Australian film director Baz Luhrman (‘Strictly Ballroom’, ‘William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet’, ‘Moulin Rouge’ and ‘Australia’) had a massive worldwide pop hit in 1999 with “Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen)”.

Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young

I was reminded of its moment of brilliance after hearing it again for the first time in a while on YouTube.

The lyrics are taken from an article written by journalist Mary Schmich titled ‘ Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young’ and published in the Chicago Tribune in June 1997.

“Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth. Oh, never mind. You will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they’ve faded. But trust me, in 20 years, you’ll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked. You are not as fat as you imagine.”

“Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts. Don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours.”

A New Kind of New Year’s Resolution: Saying No

Jocelyn K. Glei writes “If you’re anything like me, your list of New Year’s resolutions reads like a sort of global to-do list. We resolve to change our diets, exercise more, travel to new places, finish a big creative project. We resolve to be better by doing more.

Yet, focusing our energies – and goals – on what we should NOT be doing in the coming year can have just as positive an effect on our productivity, not to mention well-being.”
